Saving the World... with a bag?
While shopping at Ikea the other day we were presented with an option... pay for plastic bags OR buy a HUGE bag that could be reused for $1. It seemed like a good choice. We like to be responsible, and we do what we can. But after doing a little research, what a difference this could make. Did you know that the petroleum used to make 14 bags could drive a car a mile? And that your average grocery store goes through hundreds of thousands of plastic bags every WEEK? Not to mention the money wasted in disposal. It seems inevitable that every store will soon charge the consumer for using a plastic bag. Paper bags aren't any better, either. Now everyone seems to be selling these bags at a brisk clip. Why not join us? Keep the bags handy in your car at all time and be proud next time they ask "paper or plastic?" "Thanks, but I brought my own!"
